President McAleese visits the Marine Institute

On the 11th January, President Mary McAleese visited the Marine Institute headquarters at Oranmore, Co. Galway where she toured the facility and spoke with the staff. You can read more on this below.

Recently the national research vessel RV Celtic Explorer crossed the Atlantic to the frozen shore of Newfoundland on charter to the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador to conduct acoustic surveys of cod stocks off Newfoundland under the guidance of Dr. George Rose of the Centre for Fisheries Ecosystem Research (CFER) at the Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University.
