The Marine Institute’s Open Access Repository library, which holds over 650 publications online, has had over 6,000 visits from more than 46 countries since its recent launch last year.

“The establishment of the Open Access Repository is a very important development for the Marine Institute as it provides an online searchable database of all our publications and it allows these publications to be accessed easily via search engines such as Google,” explained Anne Wilkinson, the Institute’s Library and Information Manager.

All publications in the Repository are permanently preserved digitally and each publication may be viewed and downloaded online (http://oar.marine.ie). Publications in the Repository are divided into a number of different collections including corporate reports, scientific and technical reports, peer reviewed articles and conference papers.

Key objectives of the Marine Institute’s Repository are to facilitate online open access to up-to-date marine research publications and to facilitate access to the research publications supported by National and European funded marine research programmes.

“We are continually adding new publications to the Repository and are confident that the number of visitors that are interested in accessing the research outputs of the Marine Institute will continue to increase as the collection develops,” said Anne Wilkinson.

If you wish to contact the Library in relation to the Repository, email: library@marine.ie or by phone: +353 91 387526.
