US Marine Science Experts receive Certificates of Irish Heritage

Simon Coveney TD, Minster for Agriculture Food and the Marine presented two Certificates of Irish Heritage, issued on behalf of the Government of Ireland, during the Euro Science Open Forum (ESOF) 2012 this week (Thursday 12th July 2012).  The recipients included Dr. Michael Crosby, Senior Vice President for Research at Mote Marine Laboratory, Florida and Professor John Delaney of the Department of Oceanography at the University of Washington.

Included in presenting the certificates was Dr. Peter Heffernan, CEO of the Marine Institute and Ms Cathy O’Connor, First Secretary at the Embassy of Ireland in Washington, who accepted the certificate on behalf of Professor John Delaney.

The Certificate of Irish Heritage is an official recognition by the Irish Government of those who are proud of their Irish ancestry and their own Irish heritage.
