Information Services and Development

 

Information Services & Development (IS&D) is responsible for the co-ordination of data activities and the provision of information technology. This section is made up of three teams:-

IT Operations and Systems

This team ensures that all IT related infrastructure operates in a reliable and efficient manner. Infrastructure includes Desktop PCs, Servers, Local and Wide Area Networks, data backup, software licenses etc.

Data Management and Governance

The Data Management team ensure that data resources within the Institute are made available to as wide an audience as possible. This is achieved by working with data owners throughout the organisation to make use of internal standards and general best practice in training, data models, technology and storage.

Application Development and Deployment

The Institute deals with a range of specialised scientific disciplines, and is supported in this work by the Application Development team. The team develops bespoke solutions and deploys off the shelf solutions. This skill set is also used to support the business operations of the Institute.

A key role for Information Services & Development section is support of the Knowledge and Information Management Programme within SeaChange.
