This section contains information about how the Marine Institute works with the wider marine community through its education programmes for primary, secondary and third level students as well as events involving the scientific community both nationally and internationally.
Education
We recognise that the future development of Ireland's 220 million acre marine resource lies in the hands of todays primary, secondary and third level students.

We therefore run an active "Explorers" primary education programme and the "Follow the Fleet" programme for primary and second level students, as well as the Integrated Marine Exploration Programme (IMEP) for second and third-level students to engage these future policy-makers and scientists with marine science and the marine environment.

The Real Map of Ireland and other marine-related Lesson plans, worksheets and activities can be downloaded from the Marine Insitute website.
Our educational DVD "Explorer - A Deeper Understanding", featuring a fly-on-the-wall documentary on a deepwater mission aboard the research vessel RV Celtic Explorer can be viewed directly from YouTube or purchased through our e-store.
Events
The events page has information about upcoming marine related events, conferences and seminars.
