The Annual Cod Conference 2008 is organized by the Norwegian Seafood Centre, representing the national Cod Network, a membership organisation for the cod industry. The annual workshop is held for the 7th time, this time in Tromsø. The organising committee is represented by all the major research institutions in Norway involved in cod research, the public sector and representatives from the industry.
The conference is spread over three days and covers all the major themes in farming of cod; emphasising the major problem areas in production, marketing and quality in cod farming. Two special workshops will be held prior to the conference, one on cod health and another in cost efficiency in cod farming. The conference is represented by all countries involved in the cod industry and most presentations are either held in English or will have English overheads.
The purpose of the conference is to bring together both the research and the industry involved in cod farming. More than 45 speakers will present the current state of the cod farming research and industry. In addition, there will be poster presentations and exhibitions from companies of equipment, feed and special technology related to cod farming.
In conjunction with the conference it is possible to join a visit to the biggest clusters of cod farms in the Bodø region.
