- Ecosystem Services: Resources and utilisation, biodiversity and its utility, ecological and economic valuation of ecosystems.
- Management Strategies: Habitat/ ecosystem restoration (MPAs, sanctuaries, no take zones), resource enhancement (FADs, sea ranching), ICZM, EAF, disaster management
- Ecosystem Assessment: Existing models and their application, assessment capabilities and application of remote sensing and GIS (mapping marine natural resources, fishing grounds, mariculture sites etc), ecosystem predictions.
- Opportunities: Increasing food production (mariculture), bio -prospecting for drugs, application of biotechnology, livelihood and entrepreneurship.
- Ecosystem Health: Status and indicators of health, natural factors (El Nino, cyclones, tsunamis), anthropogenic causes of threat (climate change, pollution, fishing, shipping, coastal development), natural resource damage assessment.
- Economics of Restoration: Economic loss assessment of ecosystem degradation, cost and benefits of restoration, economic models and predictions.
- Special Symposium: Impact of climate change on Marine Ecosystems
There will be no concurrent sessions; participants can fully benefit from all sessions. This will give the presenters a chance to have deep discussions with their counterparts from different parts of the world.
