Science Week Ireland is a week of events each November across Ireland - the biggest annual promotion of science to the public. Once again Galway Atlantaquaria supported by the Marine Institute has arranged a packed programme for Science Week Ireland with our annual Sunday Fun Day which takes place at the aquarium on Sunday 9th November. Highlights on the day will be a visit from W5 the multi award winning Discovery Centre in Belfast with their fun display of experiments and science busking. Captain 'Black John' will host his exciting Cartoon Drawing Classes. Our own Dr.Noirin will be on hand to show the children how to make a lighthouse while some of our guest speakers include Dr. John Joyce from the Marine Institute, Dr. Gavin Collins, NUIG plus Matt Craig and Matthew Laughlin from W5 Belfast. In the run up to Science Week we are holding an Art Competition entitled "Create a Model Marine Creature using Recycled Materials", the competition is open to children up to 12 years of age and entries will be displayed at the aquarium on Sunday Fun Day. There are some great prizes including a €200 Voucher for Kearney's Cycles in Terryland kindly sponsored by Galway City Council. With some great interactive exhibitions, ocean tank dives and face painters and our 'Molly-Cool Science Search', Sunday Fun Day at Galway Atlantaquaria is the place to be on November 9th. A special discount will apply with adult ticket at €6.00 and child admission €4.00, remember tickets are valid all day, 11.00 am to 6.00 pm
