The 8th Irish Shellfish Safety Scientific Workshop is taking place Wednesday, 5th December 2007 in the Marine Institute’s Headquarters, Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway.
Ireland makes a major investment to ensure the safety of our shellfish industry.
This Workshop is an annual forum, where Irish shellfish farmers, scientists and regulators can meet to keep up to date on monitoring and research into shellfish safety both in Ireland and Internationally.
This year, the Workshop will focus on Microbiology;
- The new Code of Practice on Microbiological Monitoring of Bivalve Mollusc Production Areas,
- Trends in Biotoxins during 2007,
- New research work planned on Azaspiracid
- An overview of the UK monitoring programme for Biotoxins.
We have a range of speakers from the Marine Institute, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Sea Fisheries Protection Authority, Academia and from the Centre for the Environment, Fisheries & Aquaculture Science, UK.
