The symposium is an opportunity for researchers and policy makers in the area of marine socio-economics to get together to meet and discuss their on-going work.
The symposium is divided up into 3 sessions.
• “Ocean Economy Analysis: National and Sectoral Perspectives”
• “Marine Ecosystem Service Valuation” and
• showcase for SEMRU PhD students’ ongoing work.
Speakers on the day will include:
Grant Allan - Strathclyde University Scotland (economics of bio-fuels from seaweed)
Dr Marco Boeri / Dr. Alberto Longo - Queens University Belfast (random regret model for water based recreationalists / CVM model of ecosystem services in the Dead Sea
Dr. Eric English - Stratus Consulting (valuing oil spill impacts in marine environments)
Dr. Judith Kildow - National Ocean Economics Program (US Ocean and Coastal Economies)
