The aim of the awards is to significantly develop overall research capacity particularly in priority areas of marine research as outlined in Sea Change: A Marine Knowledge, Research and Innovation Strategy for Ireland 2007-2013.
Priority Research Areas:
Applications were sought from research groups who wish to develop their research capacity in any of the following five priority areas -
- Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAF)
- Marine Biodiscovery
- Sensors and Communications Systems for the Marine Environment
- Fish Population Genetics
- Economic and Social Research Related to Development Dynamics of the Marine Sector in Ireland.
