IRCSET offered two fellowship choices in the 2009 call for postdoctoral fellowships: EMPOWER and INSPIRE.
EMPOWER
Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowships in Science, Engineering and Technology.
Fellowships of 2 year duration, based at an Irish Host Institution.
Includes the Enterprise Partnership Scheme where the Council co-funds researchers with a range of industrial research partners.
The Fellowship award will be valued at €41,550 per annum including:
- €33,000 maintenance;
- €3,550 for employers contribution to Pay Related Social;
- Insurance (PRSI);
- €5,000 additional costs (research materials etc.)
INSPIRE
IRCSET-Marie Curie International Mobility Fellowships in Science, Engineering and Technology.
Fellowships of up to 3 years duration, with the first 2 years at a Host Institution abroad (outgoing phase), and the final year at an Irish Host Institution (return phase).
The value of the fellowship is based on the rates quoted in the Marie Curie Work Programme 2008. The exact value of an individual fellowship will depend on the country where the host laboratory outside Ireland is located: as is standard for Marie Curie awards, an appropriate country-specific correction factor will be applied to the base rates for living and mobility allowance.
(Marie Curie support is subject to IRCSET finalising European Commission grant negotiation).
Applicants cannot apply to both fellowship schemes. Applications will only be accepted for one type of fellowship.
