Are you a research student at a higher education institution on the island of Ireland and believe that your research is or can change the face of an aspect of Irish life? If so, II/HEA would like you to tell us, in layperson’s language, why your work makes a difference.
The Irish Independent and the Higher Education Authority “Making An Impact 2011” initiative is a competition open to research students of any discipline with the aim of highlighting how good ideas can positively change how we live, work, think or interact. Participants should set out in 1,000 words or less or by podcast or video of no more than ten minutes in length the nature of their research and why it makes a difference. The emphasis is on communication and the presentation should focus on grabbing the attention of the layperson.
Five finalists will present their research in front of an audience of second level students and others at DIT Kevin Street, Dublin on the afternoon of Wednesday 13th April. There will be two prizes sponsored by the Irish Independent, each of €2,500 to assist further in the research, one chosen by an expert panel and one by the audience.
Entries or further queries should be sent to impact@hea.ie before noon on Monday 21st February
