NOTIFICATION OF CHANGE IN SAMPLING FREQUENCY FOR MUSSELS IN THE BIOTOXIN MONITORING PROGRAMME

Please note that the BIOTOXIN sample frequency for Mussels other than Kenmare, Bantry & Dunmanus Bays is being changed to Monthly with effect from Monday 07 November 2011 until further notice.  Therefore, from Monday 07 November, once an area is on an Open Biotoxin status, only one sample per calendar month should be submitted to CLS.  If samples are sent in more frequently than that without prior agreement they will be rejected.

The Biotoxin Sample Frequency for Mussels from Kenmare, Bantry and Dunmanus Bays will remain weekly until further notice due to continued observed toxicity in Mussel Samples from these bays. The sample frequency for all other species remains monthly.
