The Stock Book

The Stock Book is the principle annual publication of the Marine Institute's Fisheries Science Services (FSS). Its purpose is to provide the latest impartial scientific advice on the commercially exploited fish stocks of interest to Ireland. The Stock Book is used by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food - (DAFF) at the Total Allowable Catch (TAC) negotiations with the EU in December and throughout the year at fisheries management meetings.

Final ICES (International Council for the Exploration of the Seas), ICCAT (International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna) and STECF (Scientific Technical and Economic Committee on Fisheries) reports should be consulted for the official and definitive advice. More detailed information on specific stocks is available in the relevant ICES Working Group Reports.

The 2009 Stock Book is available here to download (PDF, 17.5MB). Please note Adobe Reader 7 is required in order to read the pdf files.
