Project Summary
This project addresses one of the key objectives of Sea Change in that it will increase our understanding of the life history, ecology, dynamics and ecosystem role of the Black Scabbard. This commercially exploited and high migratory species, occupies an important role in the deep water ecosystem of the North East Atlantic.
The results of this project will also support the Strategy for a Restructured, Profitable and Sustainable Irish Sea Food Industry, in that it will inform any management plans for the limited exploitation of deep sea resources off the Irish Coast.
