Research Measure:      Industry Research Measure

Funding Type:              NDP Marine Research Sub-Programme

Funding Year:              2007

Project Duration:         48 months

Project Type:                PhD Scholarship

Total Grant-Aid:            €108,000

Lead Partner:                MRI, NUI,Galway

Project Summary:

The aim of the PhD scholarship is to integrate fisheries survey and stock assessment data with environmental data sets to assess the impact of climate change on the dynamics of the NEA mackerel stock and cod stocks in waters around Ireland.

On a national and European level, the results of this work will improve our knowledge of climate impacts on fishereis in an Irish cotext, thus aiding policy makers to improve fisheries management decisions taking climate into account.  On an international level the articles in peer reviewed journals will contribute to the expansion of knowledge in this field.
