Project Summary
The primary objective of this project is to develop and implement a strategy (following the development of the data repository) which will integrate and enable data interrogation across all data sources used by Marine Institute’s Fisheries Science Services (FSS) Group. This project will work closely with the Marine Institute’s data repository initiative proposed under the policy support research programme.
This project will be a key element to enabling the development of the ecosystem approach to fisheries management. It will review and restructure data collection and storage and plan and carry out the integration of data sources used by Fisheries Science Services, in order to facilitate the high-level analyses which will form the keystone to developing and ecosystem based approach to fisheries management. The project will feed into the development of the Marine Data Repository at the Marine Institute, and will also deliver a strategy document which will guide Fisheries Science Services data management into the next decade.
