"Development of an Efficient Design Technique for the Optimisation of Mooring Systems for Wave Energy Arrays"
Research Measure: Discovery Research Measure
Funding Type: NDP Marine Research Sub-Programme
Funding Year: 2007
Project Duration: 12 months
Project Type: Industry-Led Award
Total Grant-Aid: €95,928
Lead Partner: Marine Computation Services Ltd.
Project Summary
The research will involve acquiring new knowledge regarding the physical response mechanism of combined mooring and wave energy systems. This will be used to develop new processes for the optimisation of mooring systems, such that mooring system optimisation can be performed in parallel with the development and optimisation of the devices themselves. This will constitute a significant improvement in the process that currently exists for the optimisation and design of wave energy mooring systems.
