"Demonstration of a Miniaturised Multi-Channel Cytometry System and its suitability for Autonomous Deployment"
Research Measure: Discovery Research Measure
Project Type: Strategic Project
Funding Year: 2004
Project Duration: 2004-2008
Total Grant-Aid: €472,220
Funding Sources: NDP 2000-2006 Marine RTDI
Lead Partner: Tyndall National Institute
The aim of this project is to demonstrate a miniaturised unit for the in-situ detection of microbial pollution or toxic bloom events. This project is creating a 'proof-of-concept' for an autonomous system to quantify microorganisms using a cytometry system. The concept is currently proven in laboratory surroundings, using cell counting techniques coupled with antibody markers and with fluorescence markers.
