The Policy Support Research Measure of Sea Change will use the knowledge derived from marine related research, and data obtained by monitoring the marine environment, and marine related issues, to inform public policy. It will contribute to the governance and regulation of the sector and inform marine related decision making in the public and private sectors.
The Measure will provide information to support the spatial and economic development of coastal and ocean areas. Decision making in relation to Ireland’s international position and the impact of decisions taken elsewhere as they relate to marine matters, will be informed by this Measure.
The Measure also supports research into knowledge and information management systems required to capture and disseminate marine data and information and hence is relevant to a wide customer base. In meeting the needs of various groups, a more innovative, customer driven and market conscious ethos and practice in the public sector will be visible.
