October 15th 2008 - Minister Power launches the ISDE at GIS Ireland 2008

The ISDE was launched at GIS Ireland 2008 by the Minister of State Sean Power TD. ?The Irish Spatial Data Exchange will be a common portal to the vast and overlapping databases of numerous organisations, and will allow individuals to locate data quickly and easily,? said Minister of State, Sean Power TD. September 2008 - the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government joins ISDE

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government are to join ISDE after it was agreed at the ISDE partner meeting on September 15th 2008. At the meeting the ISDE partners have also agreed to the Memorandum of Understanding which will be used as the modis operandi between all ISDE partners.


August 2008 - the Geological Survey of Ireland's catalogue begins integration with ISDE 

The Geological Survey of Ireland's catalogue is being integrated with the ISDE system. The catalogue which is part of the Dept. of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources catalogue, is now integrated with the ISDE system and is completing testing. Records from this catalogue are now available through the isde global search


February 2008 - ISDE System in Final Development Phase

The ISDE system is now in the final phase of development. Development work is being carried out by ESRI Ireland and Fujitsu Services. System testing for the final phase is to begin shortly.


 

7th November 2007 ? Compass Informatics developing ISDE Business Plan

As the ISDE system is now in the process of moving away from its operational demo to a production system, plans are underway to develop a business plan which will act as a road plan for ISDE. Compass Informatics Ltd. will be developing the ISDE business plan, which will integrate the future requirements of the INSPIRE Directive into the Irish Spatial Data Exchange programme's roadmap for the future.


16th June 2006 ? ISDE features at Red Cow Roundabout Hotel

The Irish Spatial Data Exchange will be publicly launched at the Red Cow Hotel on the 16th June 2006 .John Evans of the Marine Institute will speak of "how the project came about and the challenges faced in bringing it to completion?


3rd May 2006 - MIDA joins the ISDE

The Mida service provided by the Coastal and Marine Resources Centre (CMRC) at UCC has become the latest meta-data catalogue service to join the Irish Spatial Data Exchange. The CMRC implementation is based on Open Source technologies including eXist XML Native Database, XQuery and JAX-WS 2.0 Java technology.


2nd March 2006 ? the ISDE has started system testing.

Meta Catalogues from the Marine Institute and the Environmental Protection Agency are being used to assess the meta-data exchange project.
