Tidal Predictions
Welcome to the Irish National Tide Gauge Network project tide predictions homepage. This page has been designed to require minimal bandwidth. The simple map below serves to illustrate the distributed monitoring sites (red dots) and locations where tidal predictions are based on validated numerical model output (blue dots).
Tide predictions have been derived from harmonic analysis of data measured at the tide gauges around the Irish coast (Irish National Tide Gauge Network Real Time Data). There are also predictions for a limited set of locations based on data obtained from the Marine Institute Regional Ocean Modelling System (ROMS) model (Ocean Forecasts). The tide predications calculate the water level due to tidal forcing for a particular period in time. Storm surge due to atmospheric pressure and wind effects is not accounted for in these predictions.
On this page, tide predictions can be created for a 6 day period up to two years in the future. Tide predictions for any date range in the past or future can be requested via our Data Request page.
