Corporate Services supports each of the Marine Institute service areas to deliver a consistent and high quality service in line with the objectives and priorities of the Institute.
The team carries out activities in the following areas:
The Finance team is responsible for the budgetary and financial management of the Institute’s funds which includes value for money, compliance with financial procedures, strong corporate governance and the safeguarding of the Institute’s assets to support the goals of the Marine Institute.
The Human resources team deliver award winning HR policies to support a culture of high performance in the ongoing delivery of services to support and enable staff to meet corporate goals. Services include recruitment and retention; health and safety; performance management and evaluation; learning and development; and support to staff.
The Communications team promotes the work of the Marine Institute and the value of Ireland’s marine resource through a range of activities including the website www.marine.ie, media relations, events, development of publicity materials and publications, and overseeing the running of the Explorers Education Programme: www.explorers.ie.
Library and Information Services
The Marine Institute library focuses on knowledge management and the efficient provision of access to information in the most cost effective way.
The Library houses marine science collections dating from the 1800s to the present day and facilitates electronic access to Marine Institute publications at http://oar.marine.ie
The Research Office provides management and administrative services to facilitate the Institute in implementing Sea Change; managing the Institute’s competitive marine research funding programme; securing and managing EU research projects undertaken by the Institute; and promoting marine research activities and outputs.
The Facilities team is responsible for the maintenance and service of all Marine Institute buildings and general amenities.
