Management of Non-listed Aquatic Diseases

Diseases that are not listed in Directive 2006/88/EC, or for which Ireland does not impose national measures, are controlled between the farmer and his private veterinary practitioner. Details of how these diseases are dealt with by industry are outlined in the Farmed Salmonid Health Handbook and the Code of Practice which were both devised under the AQUAPLAN project.

The AQUAPLAN project represented a joint approach where industry and government worked together to implement an integrated and planned approach to fish health issues. The aim was to develop a comprehensive national strategy to build and enhance the sustainable production of farmed finfish in Ireland.
