Call for 2021 and 2022 Ship-time is now open
Applications are currently being accepted for ship-time in 2021 and 2022 for the National Research Vessels (RV Celtic Explorer and RV Celtic Voyager) and the ROV Holland I as well as the Marine Institute's Slocum Gliders “Laochra na Mara “ and “Aisling na Mara”.
Every year, a broad range of organisations use the Marine Institute vessels for research, development and monitoring programmes. These include government departments and agencies, universities, research institutes and industry.
Applications for ship-time for 2021 and 2022 on the RV Celtic Explorer, the RV Celtic Voyager and the ROV Holland I must be submitted using Research Vessel Operations' online 'Survey Planning System' (SPS) by Thursday 10th September 2020. Please go to Survey Planning System for more information on this system and contact rv [at] marine [dot] ie (Subject: SPS Login) (Research Vessel Operations) to obtain a username and password if you don't already have one.
Each application will be reviewed and the applicant will be informed as soon as possible whether the ship-time they requested is available. If the requested ship-time is not available, alternative dates may be offered. The Vessel Charter Guidelines should be read carefully before submitting the Ship-time application form.
Applicants may seek grant-aid to cover all or part of the vessel charter costs for Research Surveys or Ship-Based Training Programmes. For information on eligibility for grant-aid and how to apply, click here.
Applications are now open for grant-aid for ship-time in 2021. Closing Date for receipt of Grant-Aid applications is September 10th 2020 by 17:00
Applicants for ship-based training are advised to consult with the Strategic Marine Alliance for Research and Training (SMART). Please contact smart [at] gmit [dot] ie
SMART aims to standardise and optimise ship based training for undergraduate and post-graduate students and develop nationally accredited ship-based training activities for national Higher Education.
The survey schedules CAN change during the year, therefore please contact Research Vessel Operations to check whether any survey slots remain for 2020 or to be notified if any dates become available.
