The Marine Institute is looking for an experienced manager to join our team in Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway as Director of Policy, Innovation and Research Support Services (PIRS). The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation.
This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to manage one of six service groups within the Marine Institute. This service area is also tasked with carrying out policy and industry foresight that informs policy development and supports sustainable development.
Working closely with the research community in Ireland to ensure maximum participation in international and national programmes, the PIRS team work to align Marine Institute funding with national and EU programmes to ensure maximum impact, while minimising gaps in marine funding requirements.
PIRS supports the implementation of Harnessing Our Ocean Wealth through the preparation of discussion documents, assistance with the preparation of an annual progress report and associated conference, and provision of support to initiatives of the inter-departmental Marine Coordination Group.
We're looking for an innovative and highly motivated candidate, who will play a key role in developing both PIRS and the Marine Institute strategic direction and focus. You will provide advice and support to key stakeholders, including government departments and national agencies, in the areas of marine research policy, innovation and promoting sectoral development.
