This joint call aims to address research and innovation to support the implementation of EU water policy, on the thematic area “Sustainble Water Management - Closing the Water Cycle Gap” of the Water JPI Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. This call is open to Irish researchers as it includes funding from Ireland's Environmental Protection Agency.
In many regions, it may be difficult to reconcile water supply and demand both in terms of quantity and quality, but also in terms of space and time. Closing the water cycle gap refers here to bridging the gap in “supply – demand” through the three following themes:
- Enabling Sustainable Management of Water Resources;
- Strengthening Socio-economic Approaches to Water Management; and
- Supporting Tools for Sustainable Integrative Management of Water Resources.
The Water JPI 2018 Joint Call will be funded by 20 Funding Partner Organisations (FPOs) from the following 18 countries: Belgium, Brazil, Cyprus, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Spain, South Africa, Sweden and Tunisia, and with the support of the European Commission. The total estimated budget for this call for projects is 19.3 M€. Additional call details are available from the WaterJPI website.
