Marine Institute SmartBay National Infrastructure Access Programme (NIAP) 2016

The call for applications under the Marine Institute SmartBay National Infrastructure Access Programme (NIAP) is now open. The goal of NIAP is to continue the expansion of the Infrastructure user base to encompass research teams, Small & Medium Enterprises (SME’s) and Multinational Companies (MNC’s), nationally and internationally, and demonstrate significant socio-economic impact through the growth of an associated industry base that commercialises research outputs, or uses the technologies to enhance productivity.

The SmartBay NIAP fund will be made available in this call through the Marine Institute to enable researchers to access the Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site. Research proposals are invited for funding under a number of thematic areas as outlined below.  This fund will provide awards up to a maximum of €25K per application to research teams through a national competitive process, which will be open to all higher education institutions on the island of Ireland.

Available Infrastructure includes access to a cabled observatory, equipped with a cabled underwater node that provides power and data connectivity to instruments, sensors and other equipment, SmartBay’s instrumented data buoy as well as data management and marine operations support.  Applications will be accepted from research performing organisations (Higher Education Institutions, Public Research Bodies and industry) within the Island of Ireland.

Full details of the call, including Guidelines for Applicants and the Application Form are available on the SmartBay website. Closing date is extended to Friday 24th of June 2016 at 17:00.
