Masters of Commerce Scholarship in Strategic Marketing (Two years full­‐time)

Project Title: 

Strategic Marketing Plan for the Development of the International Shipping Industry in Ireland.

Project description:

This position is funded by the Marine Institute under a Cullen Masters Fellowship specializing in Strategic Marketing and is for a 2 year period from January 2016 to January 2018. The main objective of this project is to deliver a strategic marketing plan for development of the International Shipping Industry in Ireland. This project is timely and will link in to the proposed International Shipping Services Centre, a project envisaged to create a global maritime hub adjacent to the IFSC in Dublin Docklands. The core output of the research will feed into the overall business development plan of the IMDO. Full details can be downloaded here. 

Funding:

€22,000 per annum (less NUIG annual tuition fees of €6,000) for 2 years. The student will be based in the IMDO offices in Dublin City Centre and conduct the research project at the IMDO, Dublin. Formal monthly supervision and progress reviews will take place at NUI Galway and IMDO, Dublin.

Entry Requirements:

Candidates should have minimum of a first or upper second-class honors degree in business strategy, marketing or a business related subject. The Applicant must demonstrate strong knowledge of the strategic market planning processes and analytical frameworks used in the process. Excellent desk research analytical and qualitative research skills are essential as well as experience in report writing and presentations. An interest in the Maritime sector would be an advantage. Proven organisational and communications skills are necessary in this fellowship given the span of engagement that is involved (Departmental officials, senior industry professionals, personnel from other development agencies).
