Location: Marine Institute, Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway

 

Summary of the Role:

The successful candidate will work within the Data Management team as a Scientific and Technical Officer, with responsibility for supporting the delivery of the Institute’s Data Strategy and supporting our work in a number of European Commission projects, including OpenGovIntelligence and SeaDataCloud.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the entries in and the structure of the Marine Institute’s master data catalogue, and for ensuring that consistent service is provided from this catalogue through the Irish Spatial Data Exchange and into data.gov.ie. Additionally the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting oceanographic data management activity by supporting the spatio-temporal analysis of marine environmental data in scripting language environments and in databases and both collecting and assuring the quality of information (metadata) associated with these data. Finally, the successful candidate will support the Institute’s Geographic Information System capacity with the generation of map products as required.

Duration of Contract:

The position is a core full time post and a Contract of Indefinite Duration will be issued, subject to the satisfactory completion of a 6 month probationary period
