Location: Marine Institute, Rinville, Oranmore, Co. Galway
Summary of the Role:
The part-time temporary communications manager will, with their counterpart and liaising with the senior management team, develop and be responsible for implementing the Marine Institute’s communications strategy.
They will jointly manage a number of key communication activities including joint management of the press office with their job-share colleague as well as joint development and implementation of the Marine Institute’s communication strategy and joint planning for and attendance at key Marine Institute events including the annual www.SeaFest.ie. and www.ouroceanwealth.ie events.
The role will involve leading all proactive and reactive communications and marketing approaches ensuring that the wider team is engaged and motivated to fulfil the ambitions of the strategy.
Specific responsibilities for this role will include the management of web and social media including the development of innovative strategies to maximise the Marine Institute’s impact in these areas; oversight of the library in conjunction with the librarian; and preparation and oversight of the Communications Budget to ensure excellent standards in management of the communications department budget.

Duration of Contract:
The temporary part-time job sharing contract will be issued on a temporary specified purpose basis for duration of up to 24 months/two years subject to funding and the ongoing requirement for a job share partner and career break cover. There will be a 9 month probationary period.
