Feasibility Studies on Green Shipping Corridors
The Marine Institute is delighted to announce a joint UK-IE call for Feasibility Studies on Green Shipping Corridors with a deadline for submissions on 30th May 2024. The Department for Transport UK and the Marine Institute are joint funders with total joint funding of 1 million euro approximately. Innovate UK will oversee the application process for both funders and act as full delivery partner for the Department for Transport UK.
The aim of this call is to fund innovative feasibility studies into routes that stimulate early adoption of promising long-term solutions to reach zero emissions in shipping.
Joint UK-IE proposals are invited to conduct a technical and economic feasibility study associated with the development and real-world demonstration of a Green Shipping Corridor route, and assess and develop a clear implementation plan for the real-world establishment of the corridor. To qualify as a corridor, plan for at least one zero-emission (well-to-wake) vessel to be transiting a route between the UK and Ireland
Proposal consortia must have a minimum of three partners – UK Port/Harbour, Irish Port/Harbour and UK or Irish Vessel Owner or Operator with a vessel operating on a route between Ireland and the UK.
Successful consortia will commence on 1st October 2024 and complete on 31st March 2025, with Irish Partners funded by the Marine Institute and UK Partners funded by the Department for Transport UK through Innovate UK.
Proposals must be submitted by the UK Lead Partner via Innovate UK's online submission system Innovation Funding Service (IFS) and the proposal must include the completed Irish Partner Budget Template. The budget template for Irish Partners is available from funding@marine.ie.
Further details for Irish Partners on eligibility and allowable costs are available in the National Regulations, Ireland.
The full call details are published on Innovate UK's online submission system Innovation Funding Service (IFS) at International Green Corridors Fund: UK – IE Feasibility Studies.
