Great Lighthouses of Ireland

Photo Oisin McManus.The second series of RTÉ's documentary Great Lighthouses of Ireland started on the 8th May 2022 on RTÉ 1, and will run for four weeks. It builds on the tremendous success of the first series, showcasing Ireland's lighthouses and the importance that they play in ensuring safety at sea for all.

Great Lighthouses of Ireland illustrates Ireland's unique relationship with the sea, the history of our ports and harbours and navigation around our coasts, as well as demonstrating technological advances in the maritime industry and developments in marine science and weather forecasting. The series delves into our historic relationship with the sea, as well as exploring the unique heritage of coastal communities and the people who live within them.

Episode 2 airs on Sunday, 15th May @6.30pm on RTE 1, and will include interviews with the Marine Institute, INFOMAR and Geological Survey of Ireland.
