Interactive Temperature Data Web Page Launched
A new interactive temperature data web page has just been launched on the Marine Institute Web Site. It offers interactive search functionality, is graphically rich and gives access to temperature data from a network of temperature probes at various bays around the country.
The Marine Institute maintains a network of temperature logging sensors at 18
locations around the Irish coast. The temperature probes record hourly at each site at various depths providing a comprehensive time series of water temperatures around Ireland. The instruments are deployed from a combination of aquaculture platforms (mussel lines and salmon farms). Oceanographic buoys offshore are also utilised as platforms. In most instances there are four temperature sensors on each rig from near surface to near bottom in water depths ranging from 10m inshore to 100m offshore.
