'Driving new business opportunities at the interface between ICT and the Sea’

The Marine Institute will host an industry orientated workshop on July 5th (5p.m. – 8p.m.) and July 6th (9a.m. – 5p.m.). The workshop will highlight new commercial and innovation opportunities emerging from Ireland’s Hi Tech Marine Products and Service sector. The workshop will explore market-led opportunities for the development and deployment of distributed sensing, communication and information technologies in global markets including Offshore Energy, Marine Environment, Transport and Security. The event will showcase Ireland’s current capabilities in the industrial and the third level sector and explore key markets for applications driven development of marine ICT.
International speakers and participants will include representatives from Indigenous companies, Multinationals and National Research Centres. Representatives from key government departments and development agencies including Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Invest Northern Ireland, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, EPA, SFI and others will also attend.
- Three keynote speakers will provide insights on emerging markets, policy and innovation opportunities to inform a subsequent panel discussions
- Launch of SmartBay Ireland, National Test and Demonstration Facility for Marine ICT
- An overview of Ireland’s enabling test and demonstration infrastructures
- Networking event on the evening of the 5th to facilitate new contacts and collaboration opportunities. Participants will also be treated to an artistic fusion of music, marine heritage and technology at the event
