Irish Shipping Sector gets on line

The Irish Maritime Development Office is offering a brand new free service to the shipping and shipping services sector. Their new website, www.imdo.ie, is the first ‘one-stop-shop’ online. It hosts information about, and contacts in, the Irish shipping sector. It has been established to promote and market the Irish shipping and shipping service sector abroad and Irish companies with relevant portfolios are invited to register their services free of charge.

"The new web portal will provide companies involved in all aspects of international trade a gateway to the key Irish service providers across a broad range of sectors in the maritime industry" said Glenn Murphy, Director of the IMDO"

IMDO market research revealed that there was no obvious place where customers or clients could find information about Irish shipping services in one place on line. The website hosts the directory of these services in Ireland*, breaking news relevant to the national and international shipping sectors, Shipping Lines (Load On/ Load Off and Roll On/ Roll Off), Irish Ports, Vessel Registration, Short Sea Shipping, updated international shipping markets and maritime education in Ireland.

"The next step is to raise awareness that maritime Ireland is open for business," stated Mr. Murphy. "To do this the website is also the focal point of a national and international advertising campaign that aims to put Ireland’s maritime services on the map," he concluded.

The advertising message stresses ‘Don’t miss your connection with maritime Ireland–www.imdo.ie’. It highlights Ireland as the central station on a metro map with links to other countries. The campaign has been targeted at over 3,500 companies, national and international in the shipping industry.
