The new website www.marinejobs.ie was launched today by the Marine Institute as part of a marine careers, education and training event at the Volvo Global Village, Galway. More than 80 Irish-based marine jobs and 140 international opportunities are advertised on www.marinejobs.ie and many organisations (across shipping, technology, research, energy, and cruise line hospitality) are actively recruiting today (Thursday 5th) and Friday 6th at the Marine Pavilion of the Volvo Global Village.
The website was launched by Dr. Peter Heffernan, CEO Marine Institute who said, “It’s exciting to be here today with such a wide variety of marine job opportunities on offer. It shows the very real potential of our marine sectors to assist with Ireland’s economic recovery. We hope that those either looking for a job in the marine or interested in education and training will come along today to meet the recruiters and learn more about the opportunities.”
Among the organisations recruiting at the event are IBM, Chamber of Shipping, Wavebob, P&O Maritime, TechWorks Marine, SmartBay Ireland Ltd., as well as paid research positions (PhD and PostDoc) with GMIT and DCU.
Experienced HR specialists will be on hand to provide advice on preparing for a career in the marine sector. The Marine Institute and the Irish Maritime Development Office (IMDO) will also be offering marine career advice, job opportunities, CV workshops and clinics to support and advise job seekers looking to work in the marine sector.
A series of short talks will run throughout Thursday giving ‘a day in the life’ insight into the variety of careers that are available in the marine sector. For information on the schedule visit www.marine.ie
The event runs from 10am until 7pm Thursday and Friday 5th and 6th July.
Ends.
