Organisation Description:

The Marine Institute is the national agency responsible for marine research, technology, development and innovation (RTDI). The Marine Institute seeks to assess and realise the economic potential of Ireland’s 220-million-acre marine resource; promote the sustainable development of marine industry through strategic funding programmes and scientific services; and safeguard the marine environment through research and environmental monitoring. The Institute works in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine (DAFM) and a network of other Government Departments, semi-state agencies, national and international marine partners.

Summary of the Role:

The successful candidate will work within the Marine Research Infrastructures section as a Scientific and Technical Officer supporting EU projects and programmes including the Horizon Europe project AMRIT, ANERIS, DIGI4ECO & TRIDENT as well as other EU and national projects supporting marine observing infrastructures initiatives. This will require attending project meetings and the guarantee that MI project deliverables are met within the designated timeframe and budget. Among the responsibilities, the post holder is expected to engage with stakeholders and deliver communications activities both within the projects and to other internal and external stakeholders, provide high-quality reporting as needed, and provide input for proposals as requested.

Educational and Professional Requirements:

•    A degree in a relevant scientific discipline with proven communications experience or a degree in a relevant communications discipline with proven scientific content experience. 
•    Proven ability to plan, organize, and execute communication initiatives effectively.
•    Detailed knowledge of social media, communications campaigns, content management systems, website maintenance, and other relevant communication tools.
•    Demonstrated experience in creating visually appealing and engaging content.
•    Effective communication skills both verbal and written and the ability to interact effectively at all levels (nationally and internationally) with technical, scientific and non-technical groups
•    Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
•    High levels of I.T. skills to include Microsoft Office. 
•    Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders.
•    Demonstrated ability in project monitoring and reporting. 
•    Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
•    The ability to work collaboratively with international partners.
•    The ability to work unsupervised
