Research Collaboration
The Oceanographic & Climate Services team are involved in various research collaborations that span both national and international efforts. At the national level, we work closely with academic partners, state agencies and Government departments, amongst others, to address pressing environmental and oceanographic challenges.
Our international engagement is equally strong, with active involvement in the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES) specifically the working groups on Oceanic Hydrography (WGOH), the Operational Oceanographic Products for Fisheries and Environment (WGOOFE) and the Integrative, Physical-biological and Ecosystem Modelling (WGIPEM).
We also collaborate with the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), the Global Sea Level Observing System (GLOSS), and the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), contributing to global ocean observing systems.
We are members of EuroGOOS which is the European component of the Global Ocean Observing System of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC GOOS), and the Marine Climate Change Impacts Partnership (MCCIP).
Our research initiatives are further bolstered by participation in several EU-funded projects, including EuroGO-SHIP, FreeLitterAT, and BIODIVER COAST II.
We are also involved in a number of EMFAF projects in the Marine Knowledge Scheme looking at climate impacts in coastal and marine waters, all of which align with our commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and promoting sustainable management of marine resources.
These collaborations strengthen our ability to address complex global issues while fostering innovative solutions through collective expertise.
