The concert will feature local Galway Choir, The Marine Institute Singers (conducted by Carmel Dooley) and guests - including the 'Something to Sing About' choir from Sligo and a special performance from Galway based soprano ensemble 'Bel Canto'.

The event is being held in association with Cope Galway and all funds raised from the event will go to support their ongoing work helping the homeless in Galway City.

The Marine Institute singers burst onto the local choral scene in 2013 by winning the inaugural 'ChoirFactor' workplace choir competition in the Radisson Hotel. The choir were formed specifically for the event and buoyed by this success continued to sing together and develop their sound and repertoire.

The choir won the new competitor category at the Mayo international Choral festival in 2014 and have participated in numerous local choral events establishing a reputation as one of the freshest, exciting sounding choirs to have emerged from Galway in recent years.

"The MI Singers are very excited to be headlining their first full concert in the beautiful St Nicholas's Collegiate Church with its wonderful atmospheric acoustics," says conductor Carmel Dooley.

"We are especially delighted to be joined by Bel Canto, one of Galway's finest female vocal ensembles and by our friends from the Sligo Something to Sing About Choir," she added.
