Marine Institute Singers Present Concert of Christmas Carols and Seasonal Songs, Augustinian Church 8pm Sunday 18th DecemberThe Marine Institute Singers present 'Gaudete! (Rejoice)', a concert of Christmas carols and seasonal songs in the Augustinian Church, Middle Street Galway on Sunday 18th December at 8pm.

Funds raised from the concert will be donated to Hand in Hand, a national children's cancer support service providing practical home support to families throughout Ireland who have a child diagnosed with cancer.

The singing scientists will be joined by Oranmore Parish Children's Choir conducted by Helen Hancock and Judy Grealish and special guest, mezzo soprano Anna- Louise Costello.

Directed by Carmel Dooley, the Marine Institute Singers are Ireland's National Workplace Choir of the Year and have established a reputation as one of the freshest, exciting sounding choirs to have emerged from Galway in recent years.

"The Marine Institute Singers are very excited to welcome the boys and girls of the Oranmore Parish Children's Choir Galway for our special Christmas concert," says Marine Institute Singers conductor Carmel Dooley.

"We are very pleased to be joined by mezzo soprano Anna Louise Costello, one of Ireland's finest mezzo sopranos for what promises to be an evening of wonderful music", she added.

The audience will be treated to many popular Christmas favourites including O Holy Night, The Snowman, A Child is Born as well as highlights of the classical repertoire Mozart's Laudate Dominum and Handel's 'O Thou that Tellest'.

The choir is delighted to support children's charity Hand in Hand who provide much needed services to help alleviate some of the stress and trauma associated with the cancer diagnosis in children and gives families precious time to be together.

The concert will commence at 8pm on Sunday 18th December
