Marine Institute Singers to perform Christmas Concert December 9
O Holy Night - A special concert to kick off the Christmas Season will take place in Saint Nicholas' Collegiate Church Galway on Saturday December 9th commencing at 8pm. The concert will feature the Marine Institute Singers along with very special guests Anna-Louise Costello as well as both the Cólaiste Éinde Senior and Junior show choirs who are really excited about participating.
Conducted by Carmel Dooley, The Marine Institute Singers are a 20 member SATB choir made up of staff from the Marine Institute. The Marine Institute Singers will perform well known Christmas favourites on the night including 'O Holy Night' and 'The Christmas Song '(that one about Jack Frost nipping your nose!) as well as Christmas classics from Gustav Holst and John Rutter along with other more eclectic yuletide songs. The concert will also feature the supremely talented Mayo born, Berlin based mezzo soprano Anna-Louise Costello who wowed Galway audiences last Christmas with a stunning performance of 'Laudete Dominum' by Mozart, which will also feature this year.
Launching the concert Carmel Dooley who will conduct all three choirs on the night said "I am really looking forward to conducting this exciting array of choirs and getting the audience into the Christmas spirit with a great mix of traditional and modern Christmas songs , to have a former student of mine, Anna-Louise Costello, also performing with the choirs will be very special indeed".
Charity is one of the key concert themes and proceeds from the event will go to Cope Galway and Dementia Research Education Advocacy in Motion (DREAM).

About the poster
The theme of 'The Three Ships' is based on the camels used by the Magi travelling to Bethlehem following the holy birth, as the camel is referred to as 'The Ship of the Desert'. (The Marine element and the three choirs of the concert bring the entire theme together for the atmosphere of 'O Holy Night'.)
