New Director Designate of Marine Environment and Food Safety Services Appointed
The Marine Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Evans as Director Designate of Marine Environment and Food Safety Services. He will replace Mr. Micheal O'Cinneide who will depart the Marine Institute later in July to take up the senior position of Director of Corporate Affairs with the Environmental Protection Agency.
John joined the Strategic Planning and Development Services team of the Institute in 2002 as Information Services and Development manager. Since 2006, he has also co-managed the INFOMAR programme with the Geological Survey of Ireland - a far-ranging programme to map the inshore waters of Ireland.
Prior to joining the Marine Institute, John worked for two years as Operations Manager for an indigenous software development company, and for 10 years worked with Ericsson Ireland in a range of roles including project and operations management, quality systems management and software development.
John is a Chartered Engineer and received a B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Limerick and an M.Sc. from Dublin City University.
The Marine Environment and Food Safety Services team provide a wide range of technical and scientific supports to industry and government including marine environmental monitoring, fish health services, harmful algal bloom and biotoxin monitoring, advisory services on marine licence applications and marine food residue testing.
