New drive to promote short sea shipping in Ireland

The Marine Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Bridget Moncrieff as its Short Sea Industry Liaison Officer. She will be based at the offices of the Irish Maritime Development Office in Dublin and will manage the activities of the Short Sea Sector. The appointment reflects the growing importance of the short sea shipping sector within the logistic supply chain in Ireland.

Commenting on the appointment Mr. Glenn Murphy IMDO Director said "We are delighted with Bridget's appointment to this new and challenging position. The office's role will fill an important strategic national gap and play an integral part in coordinating and developing the future requirements of the sector"

Bridget has 20 years senior experience in the Transport and Logistics sector both in the UK and Ireland in the areas of research, marketing and publishing. Her most recent role was as Editor of the British Transport Journal. Other positions include four years as senior market analyst with British Aerospace, the regional aircraft manufacturer and as marketing consultant with Bord Failte, the Irish Tourist Board.

A Graduate of UCG in English and Sociology, Bridget has a Masters in Transport Planning and Management from the University of Westminster. She also recently successfully completed a BA in Public Management.
