Project Aim

BIODIVER-COAST 2 is a continuation of BIODIVER-COAST project that implemented an online tool that supports shellfish aquaculture, biodiversity restoration efforts and environmental monitoring in Galway Bay. Two main modules developed in BIODIVER-COAST comprise mapping marine conditions for the purpose of identification of suitable habitats for oysters in the bay and an implementation of low salinity warning system for oyster farming. In BIODIVER-COAST 2 this online service is being geographically extended to Dublin Bay. New services that will be developed include provision of physical and biogeochemical Essential Ocean Variables, indicators of the rates of change of salinity and temperature during extreme events and Marine Heat Waves monitoring.
