Healthy Ocean School Project
The Explorers Healthy Ocean School Project provides, teachers, students and their school an opportunity to become ocean literate, marine leaders, and engaged in their community as active citizens.
The School Project creates a mutual learning experience for teachers and their students, where they can develop their competencies and skills. The project also enables schools to gain recognition for their students achievements where they get to work across varied disciplines to solve challenging problems.
Adopting a cross curricular thematic approach, the Explorers healthy ocean school projects are completed using one of the following themes: STEAM, ocean literacy and the arts, sustainable development goals, and marine outdoor education.
This is an exciting way to introduce the Irish Primary Schools Framework (2023) competencies and skills where children can become active citizens, be creative, foster well being and many more, while learning about the importance of the ocean.
We have lots of ideas – big and small that can be used for creating a healthy ocean school project. To help you get started have a look at the Explorers Project resources or Seashore resources for inspiration.
Don’t forget to contact the Explorers outreach team to learn more about how they can support you in completing a school project.
