The Marine Institute and Galway Atlantaquaria have successfully run the Explorers Marine Education Programme for over seven years, where primary schools have participated in developing an awareness and interest in Ireland’s marine resource, oceans and seashores (www.explorers.ie).

With the support of the Galway Education Centre, the Marine Institute and Galway Atlantaquaria are delighted to announce that the Explorers Education Programme is being re-launched in Co. Galway, where more schools will now be able to participate.

Schools may select one of four modules on offer including:

Module 1: 

Explorers Aquarium in the Classroom

(No charge.Tank supplied by the Explorers programme).
 
Module 2: 

Explorers Marine Project:

Marine Bio-discovery

(no charge).
 
Module 3: 

Explorers Seashore Safari 

(no charge).
 
Module 4: 

Explorer Workshops at Galway Atlantaquaria

(small fee).
  

On successful completion of the module, schools and students will be awarded an Explorers Certificate of Participation.

The Explorers programme continues to run in Clare, Mayo, Dublin and Cork , in association with partners, Galway Atlantaquaria, Blackrock Education Centre, Sea Life Centre Bray and the Lifetime Lab, Cork.  Explorer teaching materials are available to download free of charge at www.explorers.ie
